The following series of photographs were taken during a demonstration conducted by a local authority fire service to demonstrate the effectiveness of residential sprinklers...As you can see......THEY WORK !!!!

Image 1 - This specialist demonstration facility has a residential sprinkler system fitted in the left-hand compartment. No firefighting media is present in the other. Both fires are lit simultaneously. Both room-sets are furnished with the same materials and no accelerants were used.

Image 2 - 30 seconds into the demonstration and already the fire has taken hold. This is already filling the compartment with poisonous toxic gasses and heat.

Image 3 - One minute into the fire and the sprinkler discharges. You can see the steam in the left-hand compartment. The fire in the right-hand room is already out of control and too large to tackle with a fire extinguisher.

Image 4 - Almost immediately the fire is knocked back and is no longer growing.

Image 5 - 2 minutes after lighting the fire and the sprinklers have brought it under control. The atmosphere in the other compartment is now irrespirable and in the region of 600° celsius.

Image 6 - Fire out...3 minutes and 30 seconds later! Had the fire service been called at the same time as ignition, chances are that they would still be en-route to your house...now having to fight a house fire, not just a single room!
